This listing is for a lovely 19th Century Japanese cloisonne on bronze lidded jar with melon shape. The jar has eight convex side panels in assorted color and pattern combinations with each panel having a white beaded border. The small dome shaped cover has a metal button finial an the jar sits on three small bronze feet. Measures 3 3/4″ high (to top of finial) with a 2 3/4″ overall width and a 1 1/4 top opening. This nice little cloisonne lidded jar is in good Estate condition although there are a couple of minor issues. The bronze “button” finial top is slightly bent at the stem and although this should be an easy fix, we are leaving this to the next owner to attempt. There is also a small chip in the enamel on the wing of the butterfly in one of the cobalt panels that is not very noticeable (see photos). There may also be a few tiny no-harm pits in the cloisonne enamel which happens during the firing firing process. This piece displays well and will make a nice cabinet piece.
