Bao Ming Collection – Oriental Arts and Antiques from Collector to Collector. A museum quality piece! It’s thickly potted with great detail molding. The decoration is also of top quality. Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, Jameel Centre has a very similar jar Accession no. EA1982.9, see screen capture photo. Two of the panels are decorated dragon and shishi lions, same with my Mizusachi jar. The Mizusachi jar is approx. 9.5″H (to the top lion of the lid) and 7″W (from lion mask handes) (24.13cm X 17.78cm). This is in very good condition with small minor chip to the ear of the lion on the lid and one other lion mask. The bottom has a shallow potting crack but it does NOT show on the inside. It was examined under black UV light and has no restoration. Please study photos for further condition detail. Japanese, Edo period, circa first half of 19thC.
